Reaper Bones Update & News

Having a very successful kickstarter can be a double edged sword. Yes you get a great investment, but you also have to make good to those who pledged money to your cause. Reaper have 18,000 pledges to deal with which however you look at it, is pretty immense.

So when I looked at the retailers pre-order section of the Reaper website yesterday, I was only half surprised to see the big bones release had been put back by two months. Instead of the 30th April, its now stating 30th June 2013.

Two big miniatures, Nethyrmaul the Undying & Kaladrax  are currently under the release date of 30th May 2013.

It’s disappointing all round as I’ve been wanting to get these in as much as anyone else. But nothing has been lost, it’s just going to take a little longer that’s all.

News

I didn’t know Gareth ‘Grekwood’ Sutherwood personally, or even had dealings with him, but I know many did, especially residents of the FOD. I also know he was held in high esteem which made his passing so young all the more tragic.

Still out of this sadness a little bit of good has come. Noted blogger, Grymn lord and talented amateur sculptor Inso, decided to make a Grekwood miniature. It’s now been cast up and is available to purchase via his brother Carl at Grekwood Miniatures. £1 of each sale will be donated to the CGD Society Charity, which makes its doubly worth buying.

Pictured below is how he evolved, from green to painted matal miniature. Grekwood Minis also have other good stuff too.

Eye Candy

With ReaperCon and Salute over for another year many pictures of the wonderfully painted miniatures have been published. The diorama below is no exception. However the artist, Jabberwocky, is a valued member of my forum, and it won a Golden Sophie along with Best in Show at ReaperCon 2013. I also think it crosses the boundary from toys and gaming pieces to well executed art.

Godslayer Update & Mirliton Price Increase

Mirliton Price Increase

After several years of holding their prices against rising metal costs Mirliton have finally announced a 10% price rise. I hope to be getting the Mirliton section updated with this over the coming weeks. However if you’re quick you can still secure items at the old prices.

Reaper Bones

Currently I’m expecting a large amount of the new Reaper Bones miniatures to go on general release on the 30th April 2013. This still might change but I won’t know anymore until Reapercon is over. What I can say is the codes start at 77030 and finish at 77194, so that’s 164 new plastics to add to the range. Its a good spread of characters and monsters too.

For example Deathsleet the dragon.

DarkSword Update

First off the new miniatures from Darksword. Most are A Game Of Thrones based. Clearly the froggy ones aren’t. New Hot lead painting DVD available too, and judging by the youtube previews it looks good.

Stock Update & News

First off, Happy Easter!

Secondly, here in the UK the clocks have gone on one hour so we are now officially in British Summer Time. I just wish the weather would take notice, even had a bit more snow yesterday.

Still back to the miniatures, and to start with a heads up on these.

It’s a Reaper Learn to Paint Kit, one of 5 they produce. Up until recently they supplied a couple of full pots of MS paint, and the rest as little tester pots. However recently they’ve changed so every paint included is a full sized bottle.

The best bit is they haven’t increased the prices. So when you start to add up what the contents of the kit would cost separately you quickly realise these are stunning value. You get a couple of metal minis and a couple of brushes too, all for £ 18.00.

 

The slotta base section has also been re-stocked with the most popular bases, and has new photographs to boot.

Socks & News

Socks I hear you ask? From a miniature retailer?

Well yes actually. I’ve done a little deal with my friend at Superfast Socks and have brought a small sample of his range into the shop to see how they go. If this proves successful then I hope to bring a few more in and perhaps some ladies fashion socks too.

Postage Changes

As you are all probably aware Royal Mail are changing their prices yet again on the 2nd April. Not only that, but they are changing the size requirements that define the costs too. Packets are going, with small, medium and large parcels taking their place.

Large letter remains anything up to 25mm thick. Over that is now small parcel. The details are HERE in case anyone would like to look them up.

Clearly this has caused more than a few headaches, and not just for me. So in order to keep postage prices down I’ve opted to go for a flat rate system. Generally this will be Royal Mail 2nd class for most packages, with other shipping providers for bigger orders. I hope you won’t notice much difference apart from a slightly slower delivery time.

Mirliton

Had s small problem with my Mirliton order. A buyer had to cancel their order, so I’m now below the minimum I need to order from them again. So if you thought you’d missed out on this stock order, you haven’t.

 

Reaper

I’m starting to get some information on the size, scope and prices of the new Reaper bones. Reaper have announced that they have started dispatching their kickstarter pledges, so things are clearly on the move.

My general assumption is that the ranges will go live for everyone else after ReaperCon 2013. The prices are looking good, especially for the bigger pieces where Bones really scores. The range is going to be big, with quite a few miniatures exclusive to the Bones range. Cthulhu fans won’t be disappointed either.

Now for those customers in the US or who will be travelling to ReaperCon, you’ll have an extra bonus this year. Kev and Sally White of Hasslefree Miniatures will be attending. Make sure you pop along and say Hi to them if you can.

GoblinAid

Kev Adams is on the mend which is fantastic news considering what he’s been through. The response to GoblinAid has been remarkable too and some of the goblin greens are now in.
