Christmas is coming !

Yes once again the most wonderful time of the year is approaching, and I don’t mean Halloween.  Now at the time of writing there are only 76 shopping days left until the big day. This means its probably a good time to start thinking about presents and those over Christmas projects you’ve been promising yourselves.

With possible postal strikes looming here in the UK it makes it an even better time to get your orders in early.

Mirliton Order

My next Mirliton order will be placed on Monday 13th October. It will also be the last order I place with them this year. Therefore if you want any of their products for Christmas, you know what to do.

The Strange Case of the Missing Package

Not so much a who dun it, but more of a who didn’t do it right. I know some of you are waiting for pre-orders and wondering why friends have been delivered but yours haven’t. The united States Postal Service lost the Reaper package containing these orders and its taken a while to track it down and get it sorted out. It’s now on its way and should come into stock towards the end of October.

Shop Offline

I only found out this morning that the MH shop along with its server is being moved to a new home. A new and bigger data centre apparently. This means the shop will be offline between 10pm on the 9/10/2013 and 6am on the 10/10/2013 BST. If its still down after this time then things clearly haven’t gone to plan and I won’t be a happy bunny.

MHTV

My facebook appeal for a glamorous assistant to make the next episode of MHTV a bit more easy on the eye has come to nothing. Clearly the lure of no pay, extremely basic tech and the chance to be viewed by a whole 2 subscribers, ( you know who you are ), just wasn’t enough.

Therefore you’ll be getting me again, but I’ll try to bling this one up a bit.

Newsletter Woes & MH TV Launches!

Sadly the newsletter function of the shop isn’t too well at the moment. After years of faithful service it has decided to conk out which leaves me with a bit of a problem. Lots of newsletter subscribers, but no way of directly reaching them.

This means the existing channels of the Blog, Facebook and Twitter are going to have to take up the slack. ie, if you want to know the latest from MH, please subscribe, like and follow.

Coupled with this there is now a 4th way for you to experience the wonder that is Miniature-Heroes.

Yes I’ve ventured onto Youtube in order to showcase products that you otherwise might not see in reality. All very basic at the moment, but this could well be the acorn from which a mighty youtube channel oak will grow.

Otherworld Update & More Bones

 

Got round to updating the Otherworld section of the shop today. Nice start of a range of useful accessories and a very large Purple Worm. The Otherworld range of Goblins is not also a stock item and available for immediate dispatch.

More of Reaper’s Bones miniatures are now in the shop. mainly the bigger pieces like those below.

More are ordered and will hopefully be on their way shortly.

This does however bring me on to ordering in good time for Christmas 2013. Yes I know you don’t want to think about it at the moment, but actually its not that far off now.

It’s looking like there will be one Mirliton order before Christmas. That will probably be in the next few weeks, so if you want anything from their range in time for Christmas, please order soon.

Since Reaper have re-worked their shipping charges I no longer order on a strictly weekly basis. I’m now placing much bigger orders, but a bit less often. So things are a bit slower and therefore ordering in good time is wise. Again if you want stuff in time for Christmas, please order early to avoid disappointment.

Hope to have the popular Basecrafts basing kits back in stock soon too.

Reaper order update

I’m probably tempting fate by writing this, but I hope to be in possession of a very large box of Reaper miniatures sometime on Thursday 19th September. Just got the final customs clearance and their hand over to Parcelforce to get sorted. Then, finally, lots of orders being filled with the pre-order you’ve all be kind enough to place.

I’m sorry for the delay and than you for your patience.

I was made aware of this last night and thought it deserves a wider audience. This it taken from the Reaper main site :

We've received notification that someone is sending out emails claiming to be us asking recipients to supply credit card information. DON'T DO THIS!

Reaper will never send you an email asking you for your credit card information.

Most of these emails are coming from service@reapermini.com, an email that doesn't exist, and replying to it will take you to a very dubious email address that's definitely not associated with us.

We don't store credit card information on our servers, and all transactions involving money are protected end-to-end with industry-standard 256-bit SSL encryption. We're doing what we can to investigate and stop these emails.

Thanks for your support.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who may have dealt with Reaper in the past. This needs stamping out before innocent people loose any hard earned money.

Hardwood Display Plinths now Available

I’m very pleased to announce I now have a range of stylish hardwood display plinths in stock. Just the thing to set off that competition piece, bust or small diorama.

Made from sustainable English hardwoods, these are handmade by yours truly. I can also take commissions, but these will have to be discussed on a one to one basis.

News

Well last week was awkward to say the least. Now Reaper have got through their kickstarter pledges the more day to day aspects of running their business have started to come to the fore.

As you can see from their post HERE they are now adapting to the increase in shipping charges that the USPS imposed on them, and everyone else in the US back in January of this year.

This has had a knock on effect for their trade customers too, of which I am one. The bottom line is the shipping costs I’m now being charged have seriously increased, so regrettably I’ve had to put up my Reaper prices across the board. Already placed orders are unaffected, but orders from the 1st September 2013 onwards are now at the new prices.

This also means I may not be ordering from them every week as I need to have a good order value to make the shipping worthwhile.

This doesn’t mean I will stop carrying Reaper products, far from it. But it does mean the ordering waiting times may increase a little.

Understandably many of you have been in contact asking how the new Reaper bones orders are getting on. Well all your orders have been placed with Reaper and paid for. However I’m still waiting for them to dispatch. Something that I hope won’t be too much longer.

Shipping rates

Lots of customers in the UK don’t seem to be making the best use of the shipping rates.

Currently you can buy up to £ 20.00 of items and as long as the shipping weight isn’t over 1kg, it’ll cost no more than £ 3.00 for postage.

Spending £ 2.15 on a single pot of MS paint when the shipping cost is the same as if you’d bought 9, doesn’t make the best economic sense. And with the Reaper bones being much lighter than metal you can really clean up with those too.
